Our Source of Water

Our water begins in the crystal clear creeks and waterfalls that cascade down the Chugach Mountain Range.  This water then flows into an underground aquifer where Mother Nature has begun a natural filtration process.  Through the use of an on site well, Alaska's Best Water has tapped into this natural source of water.

But We're Not Done Yet

To ensure you're getting the purest water possible Alaska's Best Water uses an extensive 10-step purification process.

Our 10-Step Purification Process
  1. 75-Micro Sediment Filter:  This is a pre-filter that gets rid of all the large particles that may be in the water.

  2. Heat: We heat our water to 77 degrees which is the optimal temperature for Reverse Osmosis.

  3. 30-Micron Filter: This filter screens smaller particles that are in the water.

  4. Water Softener: The water softener works on the principle of ion exchange with salt free ions (sodium & potassium) substituting for calcium and magnesium ions.  Once the calcium and magnesium are removed the water is no longer hard.

  5. Active Carbon: A treatment to remove offensive tastes and odor, color, chlorine, and volatile organic chemicals.  The activated carbon acts like a sponge with a large surface area to absorb contaminants in the water.

  6. 5-Micron Filter: This filter is in line to remove the tiniest particles still in the water.

  7. Reverse Osmosis: In RO, pressure forces water through a membrane in the opposite direction. The pores of the membrane allow water to pass from its original solution into a reservoir of clean water.

  8. Ozone: Ozone pierces the cell wall of bacteria and virus microorganisms on contact, destroying them three thousand time faster than chlorine.  Once it performs its oxidizing and purifying tasks, it then reverts to oxygen.

  9. Ultraviolet Light: Ultraviolet is an effective disinfecting treatment.  Our water passes through an ultraviolet light, which would kill any unlikely remaining bacteria.

  10. Contact Tanks: This stainless steel tank stores our final product.  We ozonate the contact tank and monitor the ozone level during bottling.

Is our water tested?

The answer is simple, YES. We are regulated by both the DEC and the FDA.  We are required to have extensive testing done in order to comply with all state and federal mandates regarding bottled water.

Our bottling Machine and Process

We have a state-of-the-art bottling machine.  The machine is fully self-enclosed and allows us to bottle up to 250 bottles per hour.

Our bottles are individually placed onto a conveyor belt where they pass through a wash cycle that uses 150-degree water and a polycarbonate soap to completely clean the inside and outside of the bottle.  The bottle then continues along through a chlorine rinse, a fresh water rinse, and a final rinse, before going to the filler.  

After the bottle is filled it is immediately capped inside the machine to prevent any contamination. As a precaution, the cap is rinsed with ozonated water.  You are then left with a clean, purified, bacteria-free and chemical-free, great tasting bottle of water.
